Letter about Homecoming

Tuesday, September 1, 2015

Dear Parents/Guardians and Community Members:

There has been some discussion as to why the school needed to change Homecoming Week. The administration and Athletic Director, after careful consideration, felt that the best option was to change Homecoming to Labor Day week. Below is a list of things that were considered.

-          Week of 9/28(our currently scheduled HC week) – is our currently planned homecoming week, no guaranteed home VB, Friday FB at Miller – this would be the easiest thing to do because it’s kind of already set up to be it, except no guaranteed true home event unless VB is a top 2 seed in the 281 (which there is no guarantee) Friday FB at Miller/later HC dance start time, but XC is home on Saturday, VB is at the 281 tourney which could be here.  This is the easiest thing to do, but no guaranteed true home activities except Saturday XC.

-          Week of 9/7(Labor Day) – Labor Day Monday would be coronation, Tuesday VB at SBA, Thursday home VB v. Iroquois, Friday FB at Miller, Saturday XC at Ipswich, Homecoming Dance Saturday evening 9PM.

-          Week of 10/12 – Monday would be coronation but is a no school day and board meeting night, Tuesday VB at Wolsey, Thursday home VB v H/S, Friday no FB game/no HC dance conflict, do you have a parade on a day with no FB game, nothing on Saturday.

-          Week of 9/14 – Monday would be coronation but also board meeting night, Tuesday VB at Gettysburg, Thursday home VB v. H-T, Friday FB at Gregory/HC dance conflict, Saturday XC at Gettysburg

-          Week of 10/5 – Monday would be coronation but we have JHFB at 5:00 jam in Wolsey and home JHVB at home at 6:00 which still might be doable, Tuesday VB is at S. Buttes, Thursday home VB v WS, Friday FB at Platte/HC dance conflict, and Saturday VB at Gettysburg.

-          Week of 9/21(Miller’s homecoming week) – Monday would coronation night at both schools, Tuesday VB at Faulkton, Thursday PTC’s, Friday is no school for us and Miller’s parade day, would even try to do a parade with no school. Don’t feel that we should have two Homecomings during the same week. Saturday VB at Onida.

It may not be ideal, but considering that we were almost without having football, or Homecoming, we felt that this decision to have Homecoming during Labor Day week, effected the fewest amount of students involved with Homecoming activities. If you have any questions about this, or any other school related topic, please feel free to call.
